Compersion Meditation Script: Sit With Jealousy and Find Pride

By Juliet Monroe · updated 2026-10-19 · 6 min read

compersion meditation script
This compersion meditation script is an original 15-minute guided sit that lets a husband feel jealousy without fighting it, then follow it toward pride in his wife's pleasure. It has setup steps, the full script with timed pauses, a shorter version and notes for daily practice.

What this compersion meditation script does

Compersion is the warm feeling at a partner's pleasure, even when someone else is part of it. Jealousy is the other half of the same story, and most husbands meet it first. This compersion meditation script does not try to delete jealousy. It gives it a chair, lets it speak, and then asks one slow question: what is underneath it, and where does the pride begin?

I use the same shape in my own recordings: arrive, name the feeling, locate it in the body, let it move, then turn toward her. Read it aloud to yourself, record it on your phone, or read it to a partner. Total time is about fifteen minutes. If the word is new to you, the guide to hypnosis for compersion and the explainer on jealousy and compersion give the background; for the difference between two feelings that people confuse, see jealousy vs envy.

Setup:

  1. Sit upright in a chair or lie on your back. Phone on silent, lights low.
  2. Keep a pen and one page nearby for the last step.
  3. Choose a small anchor: a ring on your finger, or your hand on your chest.
  4. Know your exit: if the feeling gets sharp, open your eyes, press your feet into the floor, and name three objects in the room. Nothing is lost by stopping.

If you are new to guided audio, the free course at Start Here walks through it step by step; Part 3: Good Husband is the gentlest recorded cousin of this meditation.

The script

(Slow, warm, unhurried. Lower the pitch a little on every second sentence.)

Arrive

Settle in. Let your hands rest wherever they fall.

Take a breath in through your nose. Hold it for two seconds. Let it go slowly, as if you were fogging a window.

(pause)

Again. In... and out.

(pause)

Feel the weight of your body on the chair. Your thighs, your back, the back of your head. You don't need to hold any of it up.

(pause)

For the next fifteen minutes there is nothing to fix. There is only something to notice.

Name it

Now let the picture come. Not forced, just allowed. Your wife, getting ready for a night out. The dress. The way she checks the mirror and decides she looks exactly right.

(pause)

Somewhere in your chest there is a reaction. Maybe a tightening. Maybe heat. Maybe a drop, like the floor of a lift.

Say its name silently. "That's jealousy."

(pause)

Now say it again, differently. "Hello, jealousy."

You are not arguing with it. You are meeting it.

(long pause)

Let it tell you what it wants. Usually it says one of three things. Don't leave me. Don't forget me. Don't let me be the lesser one.

Which one is it tonight?

(long pause)

Whichever it is, nod to it. It has been trying to protect you. That is a loyal feeling, even when it is loud.

Locate it

Move your attention to where it lives. The chest. The stomach. The throat. The hands.

Don't change it. Just describe it to yourself: size, shape, temperature. Is it a stone? A knot? A bright wire?

(pause)

Breathe toward that place. Not to push it away. As if you were handing it a small amount of air.

(pause)

On the next out-breath, let your jaw loosen and your tongue drop from the roof of your mouth. Jealousy lives in clenching. Let one muscle stop clenching and notice what changes.

(long pause)

Soften

Now ask the feeling a question. "If you could relax by ten percent, what would you need?"

(pause)

Maybe it needs to hear that she is coming home. That is true. She is.

Maybe it needs to hear that you are chosen. That is true too. The ring on her finger is not decoration.

Maybe it needs to hear that nothing about her pleasure takes anything from you. Say that to it slowly. Her pleasure is not a subtraction.

(long pause)

Feel the knot loosen by five percent, then ten. It doesn't have to vanish. It only has to stop being the loudest voice in the room.

(pause)

Turn toward pride

(Warmer now. A little smile in the voice.)

Now bring her back into the picture. Not the picture of what you fear. The picture of what is real.

She is laughing. Her shoulders are bare. She feels beautiful, and that is not an accident. Part of that came from you: the way you look at her, the way you say yes when she asks, the safety you built.

(pause)

Notice a new warmth rising next to the jealousy. It might be small. It might feel almost unfair. That is the beginning of compersion.

(pause)

Hear her voice, as if she were standing behind your chair:

"I'm going to have a lovely night. I'll tell you about it after. And whatever happens, I'm yours when I get home."

(long pause)

Say to yourself: I am proud of her. I am proud that she is wanted. I am proud that she is mine.

Say it slowly. Three times. Let the last one land in your hand, on the ring or the chest.

(long pause)

Let the jealousy sit beside the pride like two people on a sofa. They don't have to like each other. They only have to share the room.

Close

Place your hand on your anchor. Press once, firmly.

Whenever you want to find this again, you press and take one slow breath, and the same softness comes back.

(pause)

Count with me. Five: feeling the room. Four: wiggling your fingers. Three: a slow stretch. Two: eyes starting to open. One: back, clear, calm.

(pause)

Take the pen. Write one sentence: "What jealousy wanted me to know tonight was..." and one: "What I am proud of is..." Put the page somewhere you will find it.

Skip Locate it, shorten Name it to three breaths and one sentence, and read only the last two lines of Turn toward pride. Use it before a date night or the evening after.

Using it well

When it does not work

When it does not work, Juliet Monroe

If you feel flooded rather than softened, shorten the practice and do only the first two blocks for a week. If a particular memory keeps surfacing, stop and talk to someone qualified about it; meditation is not a replacement for care. For general emotional safety planning inside the relationship, see emotional safety plan.

Frequently asked questions

What is compersion?

Compersion is the warm, happy feeling you get from a partner's pleasure or joy, including pleasure that involves someone else. It is not the absence of jealousy; the two often sit together, and practices like this meditation help the warm one grow.

Does a compersion meditation script remove jealousy?

No, and it should not. The script helps you notice jealousy, understand what it wants, and let it loosen so pride has room. Jealousy often returns in smaller form, and that is normal.

How often should I do this meditation?

Two or three times a week for the first month is enough. Use the five-minute version before a date night and the full version on quiet evenings. Daily practice is fine but not required.

Can I do this meditation with my wife listening?

Yes. Many couples find it opens a conversation that is hard to start cold. Agree on a stop word, let her read or listen, and ask afterwards which lines helped and which felt wrong.
