Audio Tags: meaning
Also: erotic audio tags, bracket tags, audio title tags

Audio tags are the shorthand in square brackets that appear at the start of a title. A title like [F4M] [Hotwife] [Cuckold] She Comes Home packs a lot of information in a few characters: a female voice addresses a male listener in a hotwife scenario.
Types of tags
Speaker and listener
- [F4M] female for male; see F4M.
- [M4F] male for female; see M4F.
- [F4F], [M4M] same-gender pairs.
- [F4A], [M4A] for any listener; see F4A.

- [Cuckold], [Hotwife], [Cheating] relationship themes.
- [BBC], [Interracial] fantasy elements.
- [Femdom], [Chastity], [Denial] power themes.

- [Wholesome] affectionate, softer.
- [Gentle], [Teasing], [Rough] intensity.
- [ASMR], [Whisper] sound style.

- [Spicy], [NSFW] adult content.

- [Binaural] specialised spatial recording.
- [Audio Drama] multi-scene story; see audio drama.
- [Part 1] series position.
How to read them

Read left to right. The first tag usually identifies voices. The next ones set theme. The last ones set mood or format. If a tag is missing, check the description. Tags are not rules; each community has habits and creators vary.
Why they matter
Tags exist because audio, unlike video, gives you no thumbnail. You cannot see what you are about to hear, so the title has to carry the information.
- Finding what you want quickly.
- Avoiding what you do not. If a theme upsets you, a tag warns you.
- Setting expectations about tone and content.
- Searching within large libraries.
For a cuckold listener, the main filters are [F4M] and [Cuckold] or [Hotwife]. Beyond these, tone matters: [Wholesome] is gentle, [Humiliation] harder. A listener sensitive to jealousy should read the description before pressing play.
Writing good tags

- Keep the tag list short, five to seven.
- Order them logically: voices, theme, tone.
- Use common tags so people can find you.
- Add content warnings where relevant.
- Avoid misleading tags.
In my library
Files in my library are labelled by theme and difficulty rather than long strings of brackets. The free course at Start Here is numbered in order, and the guides F4M Cuckold Audio and Best Cuckold Audio for Beginners point to starting places.
A word on safety
Tags help you choose, and they respect your limits. A listener who has been surprised by a theme he did not want knows how much a clear label is worth, and a creator who tags honestly earns trust far beyond one file. Treat them as a courtesy to the listener: label honestly, warn about intense content and let people opt in. See Enthusiastic Consent for the principle behind it.
One-line version: Audio tags: bracketed labels in a title that signal voice, listener, theme and tone, such as [F4M] [Cuckold] [Wholesome].
Examples in a sentence
- The tags [F4M] [Hotwife] [Wholesome] told him exactly what to expect.
- Check the audio tags before you press play on anything intense.
- She kept her audio tags short and honest.
Frequently asked questions
What do audio tags like [F4M] mean?
They are bracketed labels that tell you who is speaking to whom and what the content is. [F4M] means female for male. Other tags add theme, tone and format, such as [Cuckold], [Wholesome] or [Audio Drama].
Are audio tags standardised?
Not strictly. Communities share many common tags, but usage varies by creator and platform. Read the description when in doubt, since a tag can be missing or used loosely. Honest labelling helps listeners choose material that fits their limits.
