Mantra Training in Hypnosis: What Mantras Do, How to Repeat Them and Examples

By Juliet Monroe · updated 2026-10-16 · 5 min read

mantra training hypnosis
Mantra training in hypnosis means repeating a short phrase, aloud or silently, in rhythm with breath or a count until the phrase feels automatic and carries a feeling. It works by repetition and focus. Choose a short, believable line, say it slowly and tie it to a cue like a tap or a ring touch.

Mantra training hypnosis is the practice of repeating a short phrase over and over, in time with your breath, a count or a tap, until the words stop being words and become a state. The phrase is the handle, the rhythm is the engine and the feeling it leaves is the point.

Mantras show up across traditions, from meditation to sport to prayer. In erotic hypnosis they have a specific job: they keep attention narrow while a feeling builds. I use them in many of my sessions, so here is how they work and how to train them.

What a mantra does

A mantra has four effects when used well.

  1. Narrows attention. One repeating phrase leaves little room for stray thoughts.
  2. Builds rhythm. The beat itself becomes soothing.
  3. Anchors a feeling. The phrase is paired with the state you are in, so it can bring it back.
  4. Shifts self-talk. What you repeat in your own voice is what you start to believe.

The glossary page on mantra has the short definition, and trance describes the state they help reach.

What makes a good mantra

The best mantras are:

Examples that work well:

MantraFeeling it builds
The ring stays onSteadiness, belonging
Good husbandPride, warmth
I am hersDevotion
I watch, I waitCalm, anticipation
Her pleasure, my prideCompersion
One tap, one breathRhythm, longing
I am steadyCalm

Try to write two or three of your own. A mantra in your language lands harder than one borrowed.

How to repeat a mantra

There is a simple method.

  1. Settle. Three slow breaths.
  2. Pick the mantra. Hold it in mind.
  3. Say it aloud, quietly. On the out-breath.
  4. Repeat slowly. About one repetition per breath at the start.
  5. Speed up or slow down with the audio. Let a count or tap lead.
  6. Mix with silence. Pause and notice the effect.
  7. Stop gently. Three more breaths, then open your eyes.

Aloud is stronger than silent. Your own voice carries authority with your own mind.

Count and tap mantras

Count and tap mantras, Juliet Monroe

Counting and tapping give mantras structure. In my sessions the mantra is tied to a physical or counted event, so the beat is external rather than something you have to maintain.

A free session that ties many mantras together is Start Here Part 7: All of Me, which gives a mantra for every night after it.

Training schedule

A gentle plan for beginners.

WeekPractice
1One mantra, ten repetitions a night, with a recording
2Add a second mantra, twenty repetitions in total
3Use mantras in the daytime for sixty seconds, once a day
4Combine mantras with a ring touch and a count

If you are new to the whole style, the free Start Here course makes a good foundation.

Using mantras in daily life

Using mantras in daily life, Juliet Monroe

A mantra can be silent and nearly invisible. Some uses:

Use them sparingly and never in situations needing full attention, such as driving.

Combining with affirmations

Affirmations and mantras overlap. An affirmation is a sentence you say to yourself; a mantra is an affirmation turned into a rhythm. Many husbands start with affirmations and graduate to mantras once the words feel natural. The guide on cuckold affirmations lists 30 lines you can shorten into mantras.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting, Juliet Monroe

Mantra training for jealousy

One of the best practical uses of mantra training is as a tool against jealousy. Jealousy is a fast, physical reaction: tight chest, shallow breath, racing thoughts. A mantra works on the same physical layer.

A three-step jealousy reset

  1. Breathe out slowly. Longer than you breathe in.
  2. Say the mantra on the out-breath. For example, the ring stays on.
  3. Repeat five times. Notice the tightness easing.

The aim is not to push jealousy away but to give your nervous system a steadier rhythm. Most people feel a clear difference within a minute.

Choosing a mantra for the job

SituationSuggested mantra
Waiting for newsI wait well
A message arrivesI breathe, then I read
A date is startingI am steady, I am hers
After a hard eveningThe ring stays on
A flash of comparisonI am enough

Write down two or three and keep them in your phone notes. When the moment comes, you will not need to think.

Mantras in the explicit sessions

In the exclusive library, mantras appear as rhythmic phrases tied to the scene. They are written for listeners who want the repetition to heighten arousal as well as focus.

The same principles apply as in the gentle sessions: short phrase, steady rhythm, clear cue. The only difference is the content.

Training mistakes to avoid

If you want a free, structured place to start, the whole Start Here course doubles as mantra training: each part gives you a phrase and a beat, and the last part chains them all.

Safety and control

Mantra training is gentle and reversible. A mantra weakens when you stop using it, and you can retire it by replacing it with another. Stay in control and stop whenever you like. More on this in is erotic hypnosis safe.

The point of a mantra is not to hypnotise you against your will. It is to give you a steady rhythm for feelings you already want. Keep it short, say it slowly and let the words do their quiet work.

Frequently asked questions

What is mantra training in hypnosis?

It is repeating a short phrase, aloud or silently, in time with breath, a count or a tap until the phrase feels automatic and carries a feeling. It narrows attention, builds rhythm and anchors a state.

What makes a good hypnosis mantra?

A short, rhythmic, positive and personal phrase of three to seven words, such as The ring stays on or I am hers. It should fit one breath and feel true, or close to true, when you say it.

Should I say a mantra aloud or silently?

Aloud, quietly, is stronger because your own voice carries authority with your mind. Silent repetition works for daytime use or when others are around.

How long does mantra training take to work?

Many people notice an effect within a week of nightly practice, with stronger results after three to four weeks. Short daily sessions beat long irregular ones.

What are count and tap mantras?

Mantras tied to a counted or tapped beat. Each tap or number carries the phrase, so the external rhythm keeps you steady while the words build the feeling. The free Start Here course uses this in The Tap and All of Me.
