Chastity Contract: meaning

Also: keyholder contract, chastity agreement, denial contract

chastity contract meaning
Chastity Contract: A chastity contract is a written agreement between a wearer and a keyholder that sets the rules of the lock: duration, check-ins, release conditions and the safe exit. It is a play document with no legal force, and its value is in making rules clear.

A chastity contract is the written rules of a lock. It records what each person agreed, so nothing depends on memory or mood. It is a play document and has no legal weight, but it works because both people signed it and both can point to it.

What it should cover

Check-insDaily message, cage check photos

The safety clauses come first

The safety clauses come first, Juliet Monroe

Write them before anything fun. Name the safeword and what happens when it is said. State the maximum wear time and when the device must come off. Agree where the spare key lives and who can reach it. A contract with no exit is a trap, not a game.

Wording tips

  1. Use plain language, not legal style. "I will send a photo each evening" beats "the undersigned shall".
  2. Be specific about numbers: days, times, counts.
  3. Include a review date. After two weeks, read it aloud and change what does not work.
  4. Add only rules you will enforce. Unenforced rules wear down the real ones.

Making it ritual

Making it ritual, Juliet Monroe

Read it aloud. Sign it by hand. Put it in a place you both see. I like to include the wedding ring: the ring stays on, the lock stays shut, the key stays with me. Some couples tie it to Locktober and renew it each year.

Examples of rule types

Contract and conversation

A contract does not replace talking. Read boundaries and safewords before you write one, and ask your partner about their limits. The how to ask your wife to be keyholder guide helps if she has not agreed yet. A related idea is a cuckold contract, which sets the rules of the wider dynamic.

A sample opening paragraph

"From the date below, I will wear the device agreed between us. She holds the key. I will send my evening check-in. She may extend or shorten the lock within the limits we set. Either of us can end this at any time by saying the safeword, and the spare key stays where we both know it." Four sentences, and it already covers duty, power and exit. Add detail only where you need it.

Frequently asked questions

Is a chastity contract legally binding?

No. It is a play document that records agreed rules. It carries no legal force, which is also why it must include a safe exit and cannot override health needs.

What should be in a chastity contract?

Names or roles, start date, duration, check-in rules, release conditions, tasks, rewards and consequences, a safeword, the spare key location and an exit clause.

How long should a chastity contract last?

Start with one to two weeks and a review date. Renew or rewrite it after reviewing what worked. Open-ended contracts without review tend to drift or become resented.
