Cage Check: meaning
Also: chastity check, device inspection, lock check

A cage check is the moment a keyholder looks at the device and confirms it is still on and still fit to be worn. It can be a thirty-second glance before bed or a full ritual with a flashlight. It serves two purposes: safety and ownership.
Why it matters
Fit changes over days. Swelling, a nick in the skin or a worn lock can turn a comfortable week into a bad one, and the wearer is often the last to admit it. A scheduled check catches problems early. It also reminds him that someone is paying attention, which is what chastity is mostly about.
What to look at

- Lock and ring: closed, undamaged, number intact if you use a numbered lock.
- Skin: colour even, no raw spots, no deep red lines left from the ring.
- Swelling or numbness: ask him directly and look at the tip.
- Cleanliness: residue, odour, anything stuck.
- Position: nothing has slipped; see pull-out.
In person
Make it deliberate. Tell him when. Have him stand, remove clothing below the waist and wait. Use a light. Say what you see out loud. A routine voice is steadier than a clinical one: "Red here, I want that gone by tomorrow." I like to end with a small touch to the lock, which is the signal he recognises from Part 5 of Start Here.
By photo

When you are apart, ask for a photo in set light with a visible note: today's date, a word you choose. Never accept an old image; the note proves it is fresh. The check-in photo guide has poses and what to avoid.
Frequency
| Wear length | Suggested check |
|---|---|
| First week | Daily |
| Ongoing | Every 2 to 3 days |
| After skin trouble | Twice a day until clear |
Anything numb, discoloured or painful means unlock and recover, no matter what the schedule says.
Making it a ritual
Attach a phrase, a posture, a short thank-you. Some wives add a task after each check: a note of how he felt, a mantra said three times. The check is where the dynamic becomes visible, so give it a little weight. For longer locks, read about full-time chastity.
Words that work
Keep the language simple and steady. "Show me." "Turn." "Good." Praise for honesty matters more than for perfection: if he reports a red mark himself, thank him. A wearer who fears punishment for a problem will hide it, and hidden problems are the dangerous ones. Make the check a place where telling the truth is rewarded.
If you share a home, set the check at a time the household is quiet. If you travel, agree the photo rules before you leave, so a missed signal means a plan, not an argument.
Examples in a sentence
- Her nightly cage check took half a minute and ended with a kiss on the lock.
- He sent a cage check photo with the date written on his hand.
- The cage check showed a red mark, so she unlocked him for the evening.
Frequently asked questions
How often should a cage check happen?
Daily in the first week, then every two to three days. After any skin irritation, check twice a day until it clears. A missed check is not a disaster; a missed sign of numbness can be.
What should a cage check photo show?
The device on, the lock visible, good light, and a note with today's date or a chosen word. Cropping out the note defeats the point, so agree the framing beforehand.
Can a cage check be done without touching?
Yes. Looking is enough for most checks, and a remote keyholder only has the photo. Touch is optional and best kept for rituals when both agree.
