Cuckold Journal Prompts: 60 Questions for Every Stage of the Journey

By Juliet Monroe · updated 2026-10-19 · 6 min read

cuckold journal prompts
Cuckold journal prompts are written questions that help a husband understand what the fantasy means to him. This list has 60, grouped by stage: curiosity, first steps, inside the role, hard days and long-term. Write for ten minutes, answer one prompt at a time, and review monthly.

Cuckold journal prompts are questions you answer in writing so that the fantasy stops being a fog and becomes something you can look at. Writing slows the mind down. It lets you notice what excites you, what unsettles you and what you actually want, rather than what you assume you should want. Sixty prompts follow, grouped by stage, along with a method for using them.

The free Start Here course makes a good companion; many listeners keep a notebook beside the bed and answer one prompt after each part.

How to use this list

  1. One prompt per sitting. More than one splits your focus.
  2. Set a timer for ten minutes. Keep your pen moving. Do not edit.
  3. Write honestly, not impressively. Nobody grades it.
  4. Date every entry. In six months, patterns will be visible.
  5. Review monthly. Underline what repeats.
  6. Stop if it hurts. If a prompt opens up something painful, take a break. Writing is a tool, not a test.
  7. Keep it private. Choose where it lives before you start.

Stage 1: Curiosity (1-12)

Stage 1: Curiosity (1-12), Juliet Monroe

  1. When did I first notice this fantasy, and what was happening in my life at the time?
  2. What is the earliest image I can remember that felt connected to it?
  3. Which part of the fantasy do I return to most often, and what does it feel like in my body?
  4. What do I think the fantasy says about me, and which of those thoughts feels unfair?
  5. What am I most afraid of about wanting this?
  6. If a close friend described this fantasy to me, what would I say to him?
  7. Which words feel right for what I want, and which feel wrong?
  8. What feelings come up when I imagine my partner being admired? List them all.
  9. Is it jealousy, pride, humility, watching, or something else that draws me? Be specific.
  10. Where do I get my images from: stories, audio, memory, imagination?
  11. What would the fantasy look like if it were completely safe and entirely in my head?
  12. What do I hope this journal will help me work out?

Stage 2: First steps (13-24)

For the husband who is beginning to explore audio, conversation or small experiments.

  1. How did I feel the first time I listened to cuckold audio? Write the first hour, then the day after.
  2. What did I want more of? What did I want less of?
  3. What do I most want my partner to understand about me?
  4. What would I never want to be asked to do?
  5. Which small step feels exciting rather than frightening?
  6. What would I want her to say to me when I raise the topic?
  7. If she said no, how would I respond in the first minute? In the first week?
  8. What do I need from myself before I speak to her: courage, calm or a plan?
  9. What rules would help me feel safe? Write five.
  10. What is the difference between what I fantasise about and what I would want in real life?
  11. How did I feel after my first guided session? Compare it with The Ring Stays On if you used it.
  12. What does "consent" look like in practice for this fantasy?

Stage 3: Inside the role (25-36)

Stage 3: Inside the role (25-36), Juliet Monroe

For the husband who is actively living some version of the dynamic.

  3. What triggers my strongest jealousy, and what does it want from me?
  4. Write a letter to myself as I was before I started.
  5. What task or ritual feels most meaningful to me right now?
  6. How has the role changed the way I speak to my wife?
  7. What do I do when I want to take something back? How can I say it kindly?
  8. What does aftercare mean to me? What have I needed that I have not asked for?

  10. How do I behave in the days after an intense moment?
  11. What do I notice in my body when I feel submissive? When I feel calm?
  12. What would I like to ask my wife this week?

Stage 4: Hard days (37-48)

For when the role feels heavy, confusing or lonely. Related reading: cuckold psychology and cuckold mindset.

  1. What exactly am I feeling right now? Name three emotions.
  2. What happened just before the feeling began?
  3. Is this jealousy, insecurity, loneliness or exhaustion? How can I tell the difference?
  4. What do I need right now: a conversation, a break, a walk, a hug?
  5. What would I say to a friend who felt this way?
  6. What am I afraid will happen if I tell my wife how I feel?

  8. What would help me feel secure tonight?
  9. Which rule feels unfair, and why? How might I raise it?
  10. What is the kindest thing I could do for myself in the next hour?
  11. If I wanted to pause, how would I say so?
  12. What do I need to forgive myself for?

Stage 5: Long-term (49-60)

Stage 5: Long-term (49-60), Juliet Monroe

For husbands who have been in the dynamic for months or years.

  1. How has my sense of masculinity changed since I began, and what do I think of that?
  2. What have I learned about trust?
  3. Which agreement has aged well? Which has aged badly?
  4. What have I gained that I did not expect?
  5. What have I lost, and do I miss it?
  6. How has my relationship with my wife changed?
  7. What do I want the next year to look like?
  8. What am I no longer curious about?
  9. What would I like to try that I have never mentioned?
  10. How do I handle the days when the fantasy feels flat?
  11. What would I tell someone starting out?
  12. What does "enough" look like for me, and how will I know I have reached it?

Weekly method

A simple structure keeps the habit going.

DayTaskTime
MondayOne prompt from your current stage10 min
WednesdayA free page: how the week is going10 min
FridayOne prompt from a different stage10 min
SundayReread the week and underline one sentence5 min

At the end of each month, read the underlined sentences back in order. They usually tell a story you had not noticed.

Sharing with your wife

Sharing with your wife, Juliet Monroe

Some husbands choose to share pieces. A good method is to choose one entry, summarise it in two sentences and read those aloud. Ask her only to listen; do not ask for solutions. If she wants to write her own, hotwife jealousy journal has prompts from her side. Treat sharing as a gift, not a requirement.

Using audio with your journal

Audio sessions can stir material worth writing down. After a session such as All of Me or the morning piece The Morning After, write for five minutes before you do anything else. Start with "Right now I feel…" and finish the sentence five times. Those fragments are often the clearest writing you will do. For deeper background, read why does jealousy turn me on.

A sample entry

Prompt 27, answered in a few lines: "Strongest jealousy: when she texts and smiles at the screen. It wants me to ask. I think what it really wants is to be included. Next time I will say, I love seeing you happy, tell me later. I noticed my chest loosen when I wrote that." Notice the structure: the trigger, what the feeling wants, a small decision, a physical observation. You do not need polish, only the four moves.

When the writing goes flat

Some weeks every answer comes out as "fine." That usually means you are writing what you think you should, or you are tired. Change one thing: write by hand, write at a different hour, write in the second person ("you are afraid of…") or write the answer as a letter to your wife that you will not send. Another trick is to answer a prompt with a single image rather than a paragraph: "A door left open, a light on in the hall." The image often says more than the explanation.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I journal?

Two or three times a week is a good rhythm. Ten to fifteen minutes is enough. Daily journaling works for some people, but a slower pace usually gives better reflection.

Should my wife read my journal?

Only if you want to share and she agrees. A journal is first for you. Some husbands pull out a page or two to share, and keep the rest private.

What if I do not know what to write?

Answer the prompt with one sentence, then a second, then stop. A short honest answer beats a long performance. You can always come back.

Is journaling useful if I only have the fantasy and no partner?

Yes. Many prompts work for a purely private fantasy life, and writing helps you notice patterns and decide what you actually want.

How do I keep a journal private?

Use a notebook kept somewhere only you access, or a password-protected app. Avoid shared cloud notes, and consider shredding pages you no longer need.
